If you will permit me / I will speak in English

Iím American /  thatís all I know for now

And if I get excited /  at the sight of blood and money

Itís a reflex action I witnessed as a child

But Iím learning other ways

Meanwhile we / do the boogaloo / do the hippy-shake

Dance the oak-tree /  and get on up

Waltzing Matildaís got nothing on me / we invented the two-step /  didnít we?

Now that you have got with the rhythm / turn your heart to steel

Just for a moment / see how it feels

Armys are willing / to march on the beat

Seems only natural

But I'm learning other ways

Meanwhile we / do the boogaloo / do the hippy-shake

Dance the oak-tree /  and get on up

At times like these / itís good to discuss

Just before we do the things we must / do to you

Just remember that itís all we see / itís all we know

Weíre from the same planet / sometimes it just donít show

But Iím learning other ways.
